Tea, like coffee, is not just a drink! If it is well brewed, it is an absolute miracle, life-giving infusion, art, and philosophy at the same time! It is also a ceremony in which there are no trifles. A special place in it is occupied by the vessel in which tea is prepared. Modern brewing vessels are made from different materials: porcelain, glass, metal, or earthenware. The buyer chooses the right one based on his preferences. But not everyone knows how to care for a kettle from Mr coffee properly. Disputes are often raised by the question of whether it is necessary to wash its inner surface. Let’s figure it out together!
Substances used for cleaning
If the teapot itself can be dealt with quite simply, it would be much more challenging to clean the filter.
To clean the tea maker, you can use:
- baking soda, which is used to wipe dirty surfaces with a sponge. However, baking soda, being an abrasive material, can leave minor damage on the kettle;
- lemon juice or citric acid solution is an excellent cleaning agent;
- it is worth trying to clean the kettle with liquids and gels for dishes;
- well cleanses dirt and vinegar (5 or 8%);
Concentrated hot brine is suitable for cleaning plaque.
To clean a Mr coffee tea maker, you need to soak it in a hot solution (you can use any of the above chemicals) for a couple of hours, and then use a sponge to clean it from dirt.
Another way is to use a solution of ammonia in cold water. You need to take:
- two tablespoons of ammonia;
- dissolve them in 100 ml of water.
Soak again for a couple of hours, and then wipe off the remaining plaque with a toothbrush in a purely mechanical way.
Here’s another tip:
Prepare a hot and steep solution of table salt in water. Dip a filter into it for 30 minutes – its cells in the solution are almost entirely cleaned.
It remains only to walk with a sponge or brush additionally, and the tea maker is clean. And in the future, the procedure should be repeated as needed.
True, there is one modern cleaning option, which cannot be found in the books. It is washing the kettle in the dishwasher.
It helps excellent, but you can’t always put the filter in the dishwasher. For some cases, there are contraindications, but table salt will not harm anything.
Cleaning the teapot with ammonia
There is another effective way – ammonia diluted in cold water. To achieve the desired cleansing effect with it, follow these instructions:
- Mix 2 tablespoons of ammonia and 100 ml of pure water.
- Soak the dishes in the resulting solution.
- Wait 2-3 hours.
- Use an old toothbrush to brush away any brown residue.
Brine cleaning
One of the most effective, proven by many generations, way to clean the teapot from tea plaque is the use of table salt:
- Prepare hot and steep water and saline solution.
- Takethefilter.
- Immerse in the cleaning solution for 30 minutes – the salt will almost wholly remove clogging from small cells.
- Perform additional cleaning with an old toothbrush or kitchen sponge.
Which detergent to use?
- Baking soda
Baking soda instantly removes dark deposits but can damage the walls of the teapot. Before washing the Mr coffee tea maker with baking soda, you should use other less traumatic detergents.
Important! The abrasive composition of soda can erase the enamel from the vessel walls, which will significantly complicate the maintenance of the dishes in the future.
- Salt
The salt is dissolved in warm water to make the solution saturated. The resulting composition is poured into a container. If only the filter needs to be cleaned, it is immersed in saltwater.
Leave the dishes in this form for 30 minutes, and then rinse thoroughly.
- Lemon juice or acid
Lemon juice is poured into the teapot. Due to the acidic environment, the plaque will dissolve quickly. After that, the dishes are well rinsed with cool water.
- Vinegar
To clean the tea maker with vinegar, you must use a less than 9% solution, and it is better to take a 6% composition.
The liquid must be poured onto a sponge and wiped from the inside. The filter should be soaked in vinegar solution and then rinsed under a strong stream of cold water.
Don’t forget to dry the kettle thoroughly before starting your next ceremony! Enjoy your drink!
Other variants
- Toothpaste
Another extraordinary way that makes it possible to cope with plaque. We will use toothpaste as a cleaning agent:
We take an old toothbrush, moisten and apply toothpaste to it.
Thoroughly three sides and bottom of the cup, and then wash off the toothpaste with water from the tap.
It will be pleasant to drink from such a cup, and it will sparkle with purity again.
- Bleach
If it is heavily soiled, citric acid, vinegar, or baking soda may not remove plaque. In this case, linen bleach, which contains active oxygen, will help:
- Pour hot water into a cup.
Add a little bleach, mix thoroughly and leave until morning. Clean your cup.
- Home chemistry
The store sells a lot and a wide variety of dishwashing gels. With their help, without much work and high non-fixed costs, to cope with the tea bloom on the cups. Even the most obsolete dirt is very easily removed due to active substances in their composition.
A soft consistency is considered an additional benefit of such products. Due to this, the surface of the dishes is not scratched but is gently cleaned. Examples of these dishwashing gels are Pemolux, Comet.
Opponents of the cleaning
Indeed, many people are convinced that the kettle does not need to be washed. This assumption is based on the fact that teapots were initially used in the East. They were “brought up.” At the same time, washing in the East was considered not only unnecessary but also harmful to dishes. The material from which the dishes are made could absorb substances and odors that spoil the drink’s taste. Therefore, it was only allowed to rinse the dishes without removing the plaque.
Since then, there has been a belief that such dishes cannot be washed.
